HOW DOES ONLINE TUTORING WORK?
Students must have a computer, high speed internet, audio and a webcam. It is beneficial if the student is in a quiet area, otherwise a headset is helpful because it will cut down on background noise and allow us to hear each other better. The student will receive an email inviting them to a meeting using the Zoom platform. The student will click on the link in the email to join the meeting. The first time that a student joins a Zoom meeting, they will be prompted to download the app. After that, the student will be directed to the meeting room. During the session, the student and I will be able to see and hear each other on video. Zoom has an online screen sharing whiteboard that allows the student to view my teaching, and they can also write on the whiteboard. There is interaction as if I was sitting right next to the student.
Here is a video from Zoom support that explains the process of joining a meeting.
